Netflix is a great company. They have a great business model. They have a great CEO. They have a great mission. But, they’re not going to be around in 20 years.
That’s right: Netflix is going to go bankrupt.
AI is going to change everything!
Why?
Here’s the thing: artificial intelligence (AI) is coming. And it’s going to make the film industry obsolete.
Think about it: AI will change the film industry in a way that we can’t even begin to imagine right now.
- It will make it so that we will no longer need actors to tell stories.
- It will make it so that we will no longer need screenwriters to tell stories.
- It will make it so that we will no longer need directors to tell stories.
- It will make it so that we will no longer need producers to tell stories.
How will AI do this?
Well, it’s pretty simple: AI will be able to tell stories better than humans.
You know this. We already have AI that can write, create and produce content.
But the other thing that AI will be able to do is direct, produce and even act.
Let’s take a look at how this is going to play out.
Here’s how it will work: AI will be able to create content that is so good that no one will even remember that it was created by AI.
GPT3 can already today create coherent and entertaining stories. It can even create content that is so good that it can fool humans. It can copy the writing style of any writer and produce new texts.
It can also generate pictures from words. DALL·E is a neural network that generates graphics from text captions for a wide range of natural language ideas.
Or think about Deepfakes. How many times have you seen a video where a person is saying or doing something that they never actually said or did? This is because deep fakes are able to create convincing content that is indistinguishable from the real thing. It can imitate humans in a way undestinguishable from their real counterparts.
AI combining deepfakes, storytelling and picture generation
Now think about this: what if AI advanced even furter? What if it comined deep fakes, storytelling and picture generation? What if it could produce films by itself? It would create movies on the fly, while you are watching them! What if those movies were always individualized to your taste? What if it could make it so that you could literally watch anything you want to see?
It could produce a movie with an actor who looks somehow in between Brad Pitt, Edward Norton and George Clooney.
It would recognize when you stop the movie and calculate this information into the next one.
On the one hand, this made watching movies so delightfull, so addicting, that you would never watch a bad movie again. The algorithm would improve itself so much that movies would just get better and better.
On the other hand this would be the end for Hollywood. There will be no need for production companies, actors, camerapeople, filmsets and so on. AI will just render the whole movie while you are watching. At some point, you would be able to watch any movie and it would be perfect.
This is why Netflix and Hollywood are going to go bankrupt
This is why Netflix is going to go bankrupt. It’s because AI is going to come along and it will be able to provide content better than any other streaming platform.
We are at the beginning of a new era.
AI is going to change every industry.
Let’s prepare!
